What Separates The Thought Leaders And The Entrepreneur’s?
Posted on 11 September, 2015
Starting a business can be disheartening at first; you feel like you don’t know anything and often ask other business owners for advice and guides. You feel like because you have to ask, you’re not good enough. One day, you will be the person that others come to looking for knowledge. It’s never simple starting a business, but there seems to be a difference between those who succeed and those who seem to disappear from the face of the Earth. The difference is that some become thought leaders in their industry because they say yes. That’s all, that’s what separates those who aren’t noticed and those who become the thought leaders.
Say Yes!
Saying yes makes a huge difference to how people see you.
If people ask for you to talk about a topic; having a lunch together or conduct a seminar, just say yes!
Yes, you may be terrified of getting up on a stage but that’s the key, taking yourself out of your comfort zone. Most people often do their best work when they are out of their comfort zone. Participating in things makes you seem like someone people can count on, reliable and to show up. Don’t be afraid of being honest about your business and your struggles, the more transparent you are the more respect you will gain.
Say yes to being proud of the work you have done.
Say yes to being proud of the work your staff have done and empower other people to be proud of what they have done.
Say yes to going outside of your comfort zone.
It seems pretty simple, but in reality, saying yes is often one of the hardest things you will do.
It can be hard to feel the motivation to say yes to some things, especially when you’re not comfortable in yourself but you must push your limits. One day, you’ll open your eyes and see that a lot of people look up to you as an idol, they want to follow in your footsteps. It may not be right now, but it will happen.
The Exception
There are some things to say no to, especially if you have a full timetable and possibly can’t make it. But the main one is donations from your business. The first thing you should ask is “what’s in it for me?” and you shouldn’t be embarrassed to ask. You need to know what benefits there are for the business and if they’re not good enough for what you’re putting in, then say no.
